Serpentine Gallery Pavilion 2013

Every year since 2000, the Serpentine Gallery of London organizes a high-profile programme of cultural events during summertime, celebrated in a pavilion built for this reason at Kensington Gardens. Some of the best architects in the world, such as Herzog & de Meuron, Rem Koolhaas, Álvaro Siza and Zaha Hadid, among others, have taken part in this annual series of architecture. Thirteen different structures have already been conceived and built in so many different shapes and out of so many different materials (to see every works click here).

This year, Japanese architect Sou Fujimoto has been responsible for the desing of the new pavilion. Inspired by organic forms, Fujimoto has created, made of white steel bars, a huge semitransparent reticular structure which blends with the surrounding landscape, playing with the limits between architecture and nature.
